The conclusion positions Didi-Huberman’s recent text Aperçues in its literary and historical framework of the French essay tradition reaching back to Michel de Montaigne. The Conclusion argues that once art history’s discursive structures have been critiqued, Didi-Huberman’s attention is now focused on dismantling the conventions determining academic writing.
