Learning the ropes
Learning the ropes
This chapter in essence details the author’s apprenticeship as a filmmaker. It describes how the author, after studying law at Oxford, becomes a film student purely by accident while a graduate student at Stanford. It then follows his first steps in film in New York, and his tentative steps as he makes his first independent film. This is followed by his experiences working for networks in America, and his attempts to analyse the documentary experience in his first book ‘The new documentary in action.”
