Christmas with Wawa is an experimental film made to explore the potential of video to produce both meaningful forms of social engagement with the Yolngu people of Australia’s Arnhem land and as alternative kinds of scholarly insight for anthropology. It is a small experiment with video, colour and Yolngu ritual aesthetics designed to test the possibilities of video (and specifically post-production effects) as a means of rendering specifically Yolngu ‘ways of seeing’ for non-Yolngu audiences.
